Ziggy was only 8 months old when he suddenly broke his leg, and his family couldn’t afford he expensive surgery to repair it. Thanks to your generous donations, Ziggy is able to run and play on all 4 legs again!
This big happy face belongs to Rose! Rose tore a tendon in her leg while on vacation with her family. They paid to have it repaired once, however the repair failed. When Rose needed a second, more complicated surgery to fix her leg, her owners didn’t know where to turn. Luckily VET Fund was able to help them afford the expensive procedure, and Rose is up and about and keeping an eye on the new baby in the house!
This sweet little tabby is Pajamas! He is the light of his mama’s life, so when he developed a urethral obstruction and needed an expensive surgery to fix it, she was devastated! Luckily, we were able to help mom with the cost of surgery and now she and Pajamas are back to all the playtime and snuggles.
This little lady is Lady Gaga! Lady Gaga developed a severe infection of her uterus that required emergency surgery. Her family couldn’t afford the expensive procedure but didn’t want to say goodbye to their sweet girl. With all your help we were able to get Lady Gaga to surgery and send her safely home to her family.
This proud mama is Sheba! Sheba had a belly full of puppies, and when one of the babies got stuck, her family had to rush her in for an emergency C-section! They couldn’t afford the expensive surgery alone, but luckily VET Fund was able to help. Now mama and 6 of her babies are happy, healthy, and doing well!
This sweet little guy is Ozzy! While Ozzy’s parents were out of town he escaped from the babysitter’s yard and was hit by a car! He suffered a fractured leg and shattered pelvis, and his parents couldn’t afford both expensive surgeries at the same time. VET Fund was able to help them cover some of the costs and Ozzy is back on his feet and doing great!
This little old lady is Smalls! Smalls had glaucoma in both eyes which was extremely painful for her. She needed an injection into her eyes to relieve the pain and resolve the glaucoma, and her family simply couldn’t afford it. VET Fund was able to help them out, and though she is blind now, Smalls is so much happier now that she’s out of pain.
It’s a guinea pig named Bear!!! Bear was diagnosed with bladder stones and needed an expensive surgery to have them removed. Bear and his sister, Squirrel, became a huge part of their family when they were adopted during COVID, and his mom couldn’t imagine letting anything happen to either of them. Luckily, VET Fund was able to help pay the bill and send Bear back home to the family that loves him.
This sweet girl is Miley! Miley is the heart of her family and her human siblings’ best friend! Her dad is active-duty military and the family had just relocated to Virginia when Miley tore her ACL. The family couldn’t afford the costly repair, but luckily VET Fund was able to step in and help get Miley back on her feet!
Would you look at that face! This is Hank, and like most bulldogs he has some…anatomical challenges. Hank was born with a corkscrew tail, which has made him prone to tail fold infections throughout his life. His mom has dealt with them the best that she could, but his most recent infection had not been clearing with normal treatment. When his veterinarian recommended removal of his tail, his mom knew she would need help to make it happen. VET Fund was able to help Hank get to surgery, and he is doing great “sans tail”.
Meet Scuba Steve! This poor pup had bilateral patellar luxations as well as a torn ACL! His knees caused him so much pain he couldn’t run anymore, but his family couldn’t afford the expensive surgeries to repair them. Thanks to your generous donations, Scuba Steve is up and running again!
Meet Abigail! This poor old girl had such terrible dental disease that she couldn’t even eat. Her family had paid to remove several diseased teeth last year, but they couldn’t afford the expensive procedure again this year without help. Luckily, VET Fund was able to help them out and now Abigail is happy and pain free.
This goofy little guy is Bones! At only 5 months old, it was everything that his mom could do to keep him from eating EVERYTHING! Unfortunately, Bones snuck one thing past his mom and ended up with an intestinal obstruction. Bones needed emergency surgery to remove the obstruction, and his mom was not able to afford it on her own. Thanks to your generous donations, Bones is back to being a happy, healthy puppy and hopefully learned his lesson!
It’s a bunny! Goldie Bun Bun is her human sister’s best friend in the whole world! So when she broke one of her teeth and it developed a nasty infection, her mom knew that they needed to get it taken care of right away. VET Fund was able to help with the expensive procedure and return Goldie to her sister safe and sound.
This sweet boy is Guitar! He is a huge part of his family and they couldn't imagine a day going by without him. So when he needed to be hospitalized with a urethral obstruction, his family didn't think twice about the cost. But as the days in the hospital drug on and the bills started piling up they began to wonder if they could afford everything that he needed. Luckily VET Fund was able to pitch in and get Guitar safely home to his loving family.
This sweet pupper is Dal-Nim. Dal-Nim and his two siblings were at home when their house tragically caught fire. Their mom suffered severe third degree burns, and Dal-Nim’s two canine siblings were not able to be rescued from the blaze. He suffered minor burns and severe smoke inhalation which required hospitalization. His owner’s sister reached out to us for help and we were able to get Dal-Nim the treatment that he needed so that he could go home to help his mom recover.
This happy pup is Steward! Poor Steward woke up from nap one day and was unable to use his back legs. His mom rushed him to the ER, where they suspected a fibrocartilaginous embolism (FCE) causing damage to the spinal cord. They strongly recommended physical therapy to help restore function to the hind limbs, but Steward’s owner couldn’t afford the expensive care. She reached out to us and we were able to help get him moving in the right direction!
This sweet girl is Ruby! She has been a huge part of her mom’s life for the last 8 years, and as an emotional support animal has been instrumental in helping mom get through the challenges of the pandemic. When they moved into their new home, Ruby’s mom noticed that she was having an extremely hard time with the new stairs. She was diagnosed with ACL tears in BOTH knees! Her mom couldn’t afford the expensive surgery to restore Ruby’s mobility, but VET Fund was able to help out and get her back on her feet.
Look at that face! This is Diego, and at only 5 months old he fell off the bed and broke his leg! His dad couldn’t afford the costly repair so he reached out to VET Fund. We were able to help him pay for the surgery and Diego is on the road to recovery!
This pretty girl is Anoka! Anoka and her brother, Odin, have been a big part of their family for the last 5 years. Unfortunately, their family has had some struggles lately with costly home repairs and a surgery for Odin. So when Anoka tore her ACL, her family was tapped out and didn’t know where to turn. Thanks to your generous donations, we were able to help Anoka get the surgery that she needed and get back on her feet!
This sweet girl is Chloe! Poor Chloe had a ruptured disc in her spinal cord causing her excruciating pain in her neck. The only way to fix it involved an MRI and a spinal surgery that her owner simply couldn’t afford. Thanks to your generous donations, we were able to help get Chloe to surgery and back home to the family that loves her!
This sweet kid is Blake! She had a broken paw that became badly infected and needed to be amputated. Her owner recently had substantial medical bills for her other pets and just couldn’t afford the surgery. Thanks to your help and our friends at Helping Hands, we were able to get Blake into surgery and on the mend!
This sweet boy is Todd! Todd’s dad, like so many Virginians, lost his job at the beginning of COVID-19. So when Todd broke his leg and needed an expensive surgery to fix it, his dad was at a complete loss. Thankfully, VET Fund was able to step in and help Todd’s dad pay for the surgery and bring his sweet boy home!
This sweet man is Micah! Micah is the light of his family’s life and adored by their 4 children. So when he was tragically hit by a car, his parents knew that they had to do everything that they could to save him. After being hospitalized and stabilized he was found to have a fracture of his left hind leg. After all of the expense of hospitalization, his owners just couldn’t afford the fracture repair. VET Fund helped them pay for his surgery and now he’s back home recovering with his family.
This big old smile belongs to Paisley! Paisley is the light of her mom’s life and beloved by her entire family. So when she ate something she wasn’t supposed to and became very ill, her family knew they would go to any length to save her. She was hospitalized at VRCC all weekend and luckily passed the obstruction on her own, but the hospitalization alone was more than her family could afford. Thanks to your generous donations, we were able to give this family the Christmas miracle they were hoping for!
This little angel is Tunchie! Tunchie became very ill after contracting Parvovirus from another pup. Her mom is a single mom and couldn’t afford her expensive medical care. Thanks to your help and our friends at Boulevard Animal Hospital, Tunchie is back home with her family and has made a full recovery!
This sweet little girl is Sumali! Sumali was taken in by some kind strangers who decided to make her a part of their family. They soon realized that she had several health issues though, and when they took her to the vet they realized that she had both a broken leg and a broken jaw. The family wasn’t planning for this sudden expense, but knew that they had to help this poor kitten survive. They reached out to us, and with your help we were able to provide them with funding toward the fracture repairs. Thanks so much to our friends at Locke Taylor for performing the surgery!
This beautiful girl is Bella! This poor girl was in pretty rough shape when her mom reached out to us. She had a torn ACL in her right hind leg and a patellar luxation in her left hind! With so many problems at her size it was very difficult for her to walk. Her mom is an animal control officer, and Bella has been her constant comfort for the last 2 years while her husband has been stationed elsewhere with the military. She knew that she needed to end Bella’s pain, but could not afford the expensive surgeries to fix her knees. Thanks to your help and our friends at BluePearl she was able to have her torn ACL repaired and is on the road to recovery!
This poor little guy is Benji! Benji likes to hide under his mom’s bed. Unbeknownst to mom, there was a piece of the bed frame that was very jagged and one day while he was crawling under the bed Benji got snagged on it. He sustained a very deep gash on his back that actually penetrated into his abdomen. The emergency veterinarians recommended an exploratory abdominal surgery to check for further internal damage. His mom had recently lost her job due to COVID and could not afford the surgery on top of all of the emergency bills. Thankfully, our friends at Locke Taylor Veterinary Hospital were able to help us out and get Benji home safely to the family that loves him!
This sweet girl is Ava! Ava’s mom knew that she had a few health issues when she adopted her from a shelter. But she had no idea when she took her to the veterinarian that she would be diagnosed with heartworm disease! At Ava’s size, treating heartworms can be incredibly expensive, and her new owner could not afford to treat the deadly disease. Thanks to your help and our friends at Locke Taylor Veterinary Hospital, Ava is heartworm free with a bright future ahead!
This adorable little baby is Gelato! Gelato was recently brought home and trying to make some new friends! Unfortunately, one of her new friends had Parvovirus, a highly contagious viral disease that can be fatal to young pups like her. Her mom is currently unemployed and couldn’t afford her expensive medical care. With your help and the help of our friends at West End Veterinary Clinic, we were able to get Gelato back to her new home with the family that already adores her.
This sweet man is Rodger! Rodger was hit by a car while sitting in his own driveway! The driver swerved to avoid a deer and hit poor Rodger instead, breaking one of his legs. His mom couldn’t afford the costly surgery to repair Rodger’s leg. Thanks to your help and our friends at Mechanicsville Animal hospital, Rodger is back home running and playing with his 4 human siblings!
This handsome kitty is Feen! Poor Feen had an old pelvic fracture that caused narrowing of his pelvis. This resulted in difficulty defecating, which eventually caused him to have a condition called Megacolon. Feen needed corrective surgery to treat this problem, to the tune of more than $3,000! Feen is his owner’s best friend in the world, so he did everything he could to raise the money to help him. With the help of our friends at VVSA we were able to get Feen back to his old self and snuggling with his papa again!
This sweet girl is Piglet! Piglet was adopted by her new family after her previous owner passed away. She quickly became best friends with her new 10 year old human sister. Her new family planned to have her spayed when they adopted her, however their plans were put on hold due to COVID. So when mom lost her job and Piglet developed a severe uterine infection, the family thought they had nowhere to turn. Thankfully, they found VET Fund, and we were able to partner with our friends at Jones Veterinary Care to get Piglet the life-saving surgery she needed.
This cutie pie is Baby Blue! After vomiting for several days, Baby Blue’s veterinarian suspected that he had an intestinal obstruction. When they referred him for surgery, his parents knew that they couldn’t afford it. But Baby Blue was such a huge part of their family, and so important to their children, they knew they had to do something to save him. Luckily VET Fund and our friends at West End Veterinary Clinic were able to get Blue into surgery and home safely to his family!
This handsome man is Tank! Tank developed a very severe condition called immune mediated thrombocytopenia. Basically, his body started attacking all of the platelets in his blood that allow the blood to clot. Tank started vomiting blood and had to be hospitalized for several days in order to treat this condition. His mom is on disability and couldn’t afford the thousands of dollars that it took to get Tank healthy again. Thanks to your generosity and our friends at VRCC we were able to get Tank fixed up and sent home to the family that loves him.
This pretty kitty is Angel. Poor Angel is a special needs kitty. She was born with neurologic problems that have made her paralyzed in her hind end. Her parents have always taken great care in helping her with her bladder and bowel movements, and have loved her dearly in spite of her disability. In her condition they were worried about putting her under anesthesia to be spayed. But when Angel developed a severe infection of her uterus there was no other option. Thanks to your generous donations and our friends at Helping Hands, Angel was able to have her surgery and has made a full recovery.
This sweet little man is Bolt! Poor little Bolt unfortunately lived up to his name, and when he bolted out of his yard one day he was hit by a car. He suffered two broken legs, and the surgery to repair them both was more than $6,000! His dad is a single father who took on extra jobs to try to pay for the surgery, but it wasn’t enough. Thanks to your generosity and our friends at VVSA, we were able to get both of Bolt’s legs repaired, and we bet he’ll be living up to that name again very soon!
This sweet girl is Gracie! Gracie had some ugly tumors on her that were becoming infected and painful. While they weren’t cancerous, they were causing her a lot of problems. Her mom is retired and her dad is on disability, so between the two of them they couldn’t afford the expensive surgery to have the masses removed. Thanks to your generous donations and our friends at Locke Taylor, Gracie is back to her old self and tumor free!
This beautiful girl is Athena! Athena was a normal bouncy, happy pup who loved to play with her big brother, Harper! One day they played a bit to much and Athena took a hard fall. She landed funny and ended up breaking one of her back legs. The surgery to repair the leg was more than her family could afford, but they couldn’t imagine amputating her leg with her whole life ahead of her! Thankfully, your generous donations helped get Athena to surgery, and our good friends at VRCC were able to repair her leg. We hear she’s already trying to run and play!
This sweet kid is Baby Girl! Baby Girl was so lucky to be adopted from the shelter and taken into a loving home. However, just a few weeks after her adoption, her new owners received the devastating news that Baby girl had heartworms. Her new owner wasn’t prepared for such a big bill so soon, and his disability check just wasn’t enough to cover the expensive procedure. Luckily, VET Fund and the Susan Markel Veterinary Hospital were able to team up again to get this beautiful girl the care she needed and on to a full recovery!
Everyone meet Chloe! Chloe was diagnosed with a rare tumor of her jaw. While the tumor was benign, it was causing her substantial amounts of pain and making it hard for her to eat. She needed a radical surgery, basically removing an entire portion of her jaw in order to ease her pain. Chloe’s mom lost her job due to COVID-19 and couldn’t afford the expensive surgery. Thanks to your generous donations and our friends at the Susan Markel Veterinary Hospital, Chloe is happy and pain free!
